WHAT IF WE KILL All THE MOSQUITOES?

WHAT IF WE KILL All THE MOSQUITOES?

There are more than  3500 species of mosquitoes, of which only about 100 species spread diseases. But these 100 species are so dangerous that more people have died after bitten by them than by being killed in global wars. Obviously, you might think that killing all mosquitoes will be a brilliant idea. is that correct?

Absolutely not. Friends, Mosquitoes are an important part of our ecological system. Many bats, birds, frogs, and dragonflies eat these mosquitoes. If all the mosquitoes were to be killed they may find some other source of food, but mosquitoes pollinate thousand of plants species. So eliminating mosquitoes may mean that many plants that depend on them for pollination will die as well. Many animal will find it hard to get food, and it may affect their population too. If you have studied the food web at school, you would know how  interconnected the ecosystem is.

Eliminating an animal may have consequences we are unaware of. So it's better that  mosquitoes be allowed to survive in natural spaces like jungles. And if you want to be safe from the mosquitoes, you can go to Iceland or to Antarctica where there are no mosquitoes to be found.
