This is officially known as cloud iridescence. This normally happens in Pileus clouds. Pelius cloud is a type of cloud formation that is often seen in cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds. Cumulonimbus clouds are long and heavy clouds with a flat top, these clouds are also known as the Thunderstorm clouds, because they are associated with heavy rains, snow, lightning, and even tornadoes. When the moist air above them form Pelius clouds on top, and especially when they are high in the atmosphere, where the temperature is very low, it creates small ice crystals. When the light passes through these crystals, these rainbow coloured are seen. The only thing is these rainbow clouds fast for only short of period. Eventually, the cumulonimbus clouds absorb the pileus clouds on the top.
